AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH TECHNICIAN (FIVE POINTS, CA)
Pacific Ag Research, an Ag Metrics Group company, the leading agricultural research group in California, is hiring a full time Field Technician position at our Five Points research station, near Coalinga, California. Anticipated hours will be 30-40 per week, with occasional overtime required. Breadth of role and opportunity for permanent position are dependent on individual's performance.
Duties include assistance with planting, pest counts and crop evaluations, data collection during studies, laboratory and greenhouse maintenance responsibilities, and various other duties as required. Most of the work will be done in the field, although laboratory and office work will be required as needed. Field Technicians report directly to a Staff Biologist, who is responsible for training and supervision of the personnel involved in the research experiments. Desired qualities include a strong work ethic and accountability for tasks assigned. Training is provided for all tasks; however, self-study, curiosity, initiative, taking on responsibility, and appropriate experience is valuable. Candidates may either have educational credits or farming and ag-related experience to be considered. Educational credits in any area will be considered, but knowledge and previous work in science is a plus. Experience may be in any aspect of farming or agriculture. Must be comfortable working around ag inputs used in crop and greenhouse crop management, such as conventional and organic pesticides, fertilizers, and cleaning products, as well as basic lab equipment. Must be able to lift 50 lbs., have a class C drivers' license, and meet our driving insurability requirements. Job Summary
Pacific Ag Research, an Ag Metrics Group Company, located in San Luis Obispo is seeking an AutoCAD draftsperson to create drawings for various building projects at our agricultural research centers nationwide. These drawings are an essential tool for our facilities project team and include overall structural design, placement/integration into surrounding site aspects, and basic details such as foundations, electrical, plumbing, sewer, and access. The position will collaborate activities with company management to understand the vision and purpose of each building project, adjusting the plan as required from details of the site and recommendations of consulting engineers. The position will require visitations to the sites for measurements, interviews with local staff, and laying out a site plan for each project. All designs must fit thematically with existing buildings and surrounding landscapes. The ideal candidate is a drafting or construction engineering student with a working knowledge of computer-aided design software, and some coursework or working knowledge of utilities requirements and modern principals of architectural design.
